Cover Panels

    We recommend the use of Cover Panels, to be applied when you’re not viewing your hive. We suggest that Nature Centers, Museums and viewing Institutions should apply Cover Panels during periods when they are closed.    The need for Cover Panels is debatable among Beekeepers. At Bonterra Bees we recommend them. Bees can navigate by feel and smell in a darkened and crowded hive and we know that being removed from disruptive sounds and changing, bright, light patterns, by using Cover Panels, does seem to promote a healthy Colony.

    Note: our Cover Panels are made of ½” thick “gator board”, and are coated with an industrial enamel. Each set of two Panels comes with 8 aluminum clips that are applied under the lower and upper Glass Frame nuts. To apply the panels: 1. slip the Panel up under the top clips. 2. Push the Panel against the glass. 3. Now slip the Panel down
